Octopus postmaster: Last loop before the bubble closes! Kai: I can sort by shell stamp. Octopus postmaster: Oh bubbles. The Torn route map! Kai: The safe path is split in three places. Octopus postmaster: No safe path, no deliveries. Kai: Then we rebuild it like a puzzle. Octopus postmaster: With care, not guessing. Octopus postmaster: We have one loop of time. Kai: I’ll read landmarks first.

Kai: This star matches the coral-star sign. Octopus postmaster: And this tells safe direction. Kai: East-west could be three paths. Octopus postmaster: A compass cannot name coral. Kai: These shapes fit... almost. Octopus postmaster: Almost can send mail astray. Kai: I read what it is. Octopus postmaster: I check where it goes. Kai: That shell arch may be next! Octopus postmaster: Let’s prove it first.

A few steps outside, on the marked reef path... Kai: The shell sign is right here. Octopus postmaster: Needle says north, not arch. Kai: But the shell matches. Kai: Wait. The map shell has three dots. Kai: Not one symbol. The whole pattern. Octopus postmaster: Pattern plus direction. Kai: Dotted shell means gentle north. Back at the sorting table... Octopus postmaster: We solved a wrong turn. Kai: But the loop still has a hole.

Octopus postmaster: Next, the needle should settle. Kai: It’s dancing. Octopus postmaster: That is not a mail dance. Kai: The hook is pulling it! Octopus postmaster: Away from brass, true at last. Kai: And look under the cubby! Octopus postmaster: The third tear’s corner! Kai: It was hiding with the postcards. Kai: We found it, but it won’t lie flat. Octopus postmaster: One patch could finish the loop.

Kai: The line disappears when it curls. Octopus postmaster: Slippery map. Slippery shell. Kai: I was saving that star for my own route page. Octopus postmaster: A good patch should be freely given. Kai: The letters are waiting. Kai: Okay, star. Be a route star.

Kai: Hold steady, little star. Octopus postmaster: The line is whole! Kai: Coral star, sponge stack, moon-shell mailbox. Octopus postmaster: And each turn is safe. Kai: I’ll call the landmarks aloud. Octopus postmaster: I’ll carry and check the needle. Octopus postmaster: One careful loop to go. Kai: First stop: coral star!

On the safe reef loop... Kai: Coral star, just like the patch. Octopus postmaster: Letter one, delivered. Octopus postmaster: Needle agrees. East bend. Kai: Sponge stack is next. Octopus postmaster: Mail for the sponge stack! Kai: Not that shell. Three dots first. Octopus postmaster: Our mistake became a signpost. Kai: Moon-shell mailbox. Last check. Octopus postmaster: Last letter, safely delivered. Kai: The loop brought us home. Octopus postmaster: And every letter arrived.

Back inside the post office... Octopus postmaster: Back before the bubble closes. Kai: With no letters left behind. Kai: Every cubby is clear. Octopus postmaster: Your star saved the route. Kai: It belongs there now. Octopus postmaster: For Kai, route-maker. Kai: That is even better. Kai: Next time, we solve it together first. Octopus postmaster: Together is the safest direction.
